A&P Falmouth Raises Thousands for Charity of the Year.
A&P Falmouth, part of the APCL Group, has successfully raised substantial funds for their Charity of the Year, The Children's Sailing Trust (CST), through a series of events over recent weeks.
A&P Falmouth named The Children’s Sailing Trust as their charity of the year for 2023/24. The CST provides accessible sailing opportunities for all. From April to October, local children and young people are taught the RYA Syllabus, learning the fundamentals and working towards internationally recognised qualifications.
On 12th July, a team from A&P Falmouth comprising Drystan Jones, Dave Mayle, Penny Phillips, Owen Hensher, Hugo Keeble, and Louis Caban attended the CST’s Schools’ Regatta at Porth Saxon Beach, Mawnan Smith. The team assisted with the event and ran a raffle, raising £772.20.
Drystan Jones, Port Development Director at A&P Falmouth, presented the prizes to the winning team, “Blobfish” from Mawnan Smith Primary School.
Coralie Green, CST Vice Chair of Trustees, commented: “The team were fantastic, and we had a Regatta to be proud of – it was everything we could have wished for.”
Continuing their efforts, on 27th July, two teams from A&P Falmouth participated in the Falmouth Dragon Boat Races, raising an additional £2,530.
Emma Gooding, Head of Fundraising at CST, said: “Just to put all your efforts into context, £2,200 will allow us to get 73 children out onto the water next term.
“This will have a massive impact on them as we strive to introduce them to the water that surrounds us here in Cornwall and plays such an important part in so many aspects of all our lives, from improving mental well-being to igniting a future passion for the maritime industry.”
The A&P teams included a mix of company Directors, Docks Police, Paint department, Cluster Support Team, Commercial, Admin, RFA, and friends and family.
A&P Falmouth’s year-long support of CST will conclude with a Charity Golf Day at Falmouth Golf Club on 7th August, where the total amount raised for the year will be revealed.
