A&P FALMOUTH WINS LARGE EMPLOYER OF THE YEAR IN APPRENTICESHIP AWARDS.

A&P Falmouth has won the Large Employer of the Year Award in the Cornwall Apprenticeship Awards.

A&P Falmouth was nominated for the prestigious award earlier this year alongside Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust and the Cornwall Group.

The awards evening, hosted by Truro and Penwith College, aims to highlight the exceptional benefits that apprenticeship programmes provide to a business and their employees.

Paul Kneebone, Group HR Manager, Darren Rice, Production Director, Will Hawkins, Fabrication Manager and apprentice Frankie Thomas accepted the award on behalf of the company and were presented with a trophy and certificate.

Frankie Thomas, apprentice pipeworker, was also shortlisted and ‘Highly Commended’ in the category of Engineering & Manufacturing Apprentice of the Year Award.

Steve Jones, Managing Director of A&P Falmouth, said: “This award is a fantastic result and a great testament to all our employees who have had an involvement in A&P’s apprenticeship programme.

“We have a proud history of recruiting apprentices and it is brilliant to see so many young people coming through the business each year.

“We currently have 34 apprentices in Falmouth, with the vast majority offered full-time permanent employment upon completion of their initial training and many have progressed their careers with A&P, including up to Director level.

“Nearly 70% of our management, supervisors and technical staff also started out as apprentices themselves, which shows just what is possible with the right opportunity, training, and support."
