FLEET TIME SUPPORT ENGINEER - BASED AT A&P FALMOUTH

A&P is one of Europe’s largest commercial ship repair and conversion specialists, operating dry docks and port operations in Falmouth, Cornwall. The Cluster Support Team (CST) provides Through Life Support (TLS) to MoD vessels (both HMS & RFA).

We are looking for a self-motivated, dynamic professional to join the CST as a Fleet Time Support (FTS) Engineer. Although primarily based in Falmouth, there may be a need on occasions to travel and work both within the UK and abroad (including The Gulf & USA).

Reporting to the A&P Cluster Director and working closely with the MoD team; responsibility to arrange and deliver all Fleet Time Support requirements to the vessels. Previous experience and engineering project management is essential; preferably in the Shiprepair/Shipbuilding industry.

KEY OBJECTIVES:

• To undertake the planning, implementation and ongoing co-ordination for all FTS activities including:
o Provision of support for immediate taskings.
o Provision of support for individual FTS taskings.
o Development and delivery of Assisted Maintenance Period (AMP) packages, both in the UK and overseas
• To co-ordinate and monitor FTS task progress and completion on behalf of A&P and in close co-operation with the MoD personnel

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Effective and efficient management of all FTS activities including:
o Maintain and compile monthly KPIs.
o Maintain accurate records of all FTS taskings.
o Compile invoices for work completed and submit on a monthly basis.
• Provide support to other members of the Cluster Support Team (CST)
• Support the review and sentencing of Guarantee Defects
• Support and promote collaborative working with all stakeholders; Ship Staff, MoD, A&P and 3rd party suppliers; under the principles of ISO 44001.
• Knowledge of Class/Certification requirements and sanitisation of spares requests

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE ROLE:

• Relevant formal engineering and/or electrical qualifications, and previous relevant experience in ship repair and / or naval engineering is preferable, with the ability to discuss, understand and offer solutions to issues with Senior Ships Staff whilst working remotely.
• Familiar with the use of planned maintenance management systems (i.e., UMMS & SCPM) would be advantageous
• Ability to work flexibly in and out of office hours to support the customer requirements.
• Competent with MS suite of applications (Word, Excel, Project, Power Point)
• Passport and Security Clearance, CONDO training will be provided
